We recently had a bunch of people go out an buy them cause they didn't have em in the first place! I think they look clean and like they belong there (they are a dealer option) and protect your paint as well as help deflect rocks down for those behind you.
If you decide to take em off you should put all the bolts back in to keep water from entering/passing through the openings and starting to rust. No reason to have empty holes anyway.
